Interesting - not everyone seeing it.
I'm on Mandriva 2007, but the FF 220.127.116.11 and RP 10.0.8.805 are the
Perhaps it's FF 18.104.22.168? What do those with it working have?
I'm using Fedora Core 6 with the default FF 22.214.171.124 and the standard
RealPlayer-10.0.8.805-20060718 (which everyone must be using as it hasn't
been updated for ages!) The clips used to work fine, so it might have been
an update that broke it (perhaps a security update affecting both FF
126.96.36.199 and 188.8.131.52?) But I still think BBC have changed something on
their player page recently.
Clicking the "external player" link sometimes works for me, and sometimes
doesn't. The only reliable method is to right click, save the .ram file,
and open that with realplayer.
I've heard rumours that BBC are going to drop Realplayer soon anyway in
favour of 100% Microsoft codecs and no choice. So perhaps I should just
install the mplayer plugin and get used to using it now.
I am using Ubuntu/Kubuntu 6.10 with Firefox 184.108.40.206 installed and am
experiencing exactly the same problem. Embedded video via Realplayer,
specifically when viewing BBC news video content, will not work. However,
when I wish to watch the weather forecast, the embedded realplayer video
I have a feeling it must be something to do with the BBC recently updating
their video player page since it was working fine up to a few days ago.
Having said that, if I open up Opera and view the same content it works fine
so I am not so sure what the problem is....mysterious I must say.
Anyone else got any feedback on this specific issue or possible fix?
