Cant you get them to use skype?
I seem to have spent an unreasonable amount of my life teaching people to even use the mouse! Being across the world, the chances of getting these lovely but definitely un-nerdy folks to use anything that I've not installed and walked them through is a non-starter. Never mind, I can live with Win alongside Linux. Let's be fair, there's a lot of things it does pretty well - quite well enough for most users.

I do use Skype with others and it's fine. Thanks for the thought.
