sharing a usb broadband modem (win to linux?)

I am helping a friend get an old PC running, and onto the internet. The PC he wants and now has, is linux (suse 10).
However, the family PC is 'doze (xp I think) and has a speedtouch 330 (USB) modem for its adsl connection, with no ethernet socket. He does not have money to buy a router, and would like to somehow make use of the existing connection.

I dont know much about 'doze any more but think that internet connection sharing via the xp network card might be feasable.

I will only have somewhat limited time 'on site' to help set things up, so I am trying to understand the issues now to be ready (If possible)

I would be most grateful forcomments about this. tia
