Audacity and Gentoo

Has anyoner else tried to use Audacity with Gentoo? I just emerged it,
and that all went fine, but when I run it there's a box saying it's the
first time (as the window title), a pulldown menu and a button, but no
text at all. I assume it's missing some font or other, but there's no
dependency on fonts.

I remember having a similar problem with Firefox on Debian which was
solved by asdding some fonts, but that was ages ago (at least two
releases).
