Re: Samsung laser in Mandriva - any help appreciated

Hi,

I installed the driver as as supplied by Samsung on their Web site.

That's all you should need - it's all I needed.

Remember though, it only sets a queue rather than creates a printer
point, so you'll need to select the ML2250 queue (it's down as /dev/lp0
on my FC rawhide box).

IIRC, Samsung are being silly over the driver which is why it's not yet
in CUPS.

Thanks Paul, but I haven't got any further. Running the 'Linux LRP' print monitor utility that gets installed by the Samsung setup, and choosing to print a test page, I can see a job on my printer, but it still just says 'processing' and nowt comes out on paper.

I've looked at various help stuff etc. and as far as I can see I'm set up ok. Except for the small matter of nothing being printed. :-(

I don't quite understand what you mean when you say "only sets up a queue rather than creates a printer point". Could ou elaborate?

Sorry to seem a bit dense. Generally I'm ok with Linux, but I seem to have a block on this.

Thanks, John
