I must admit I've not tried that. Also I don't think the scanner is
supposed to do double sided is it? I don't really see how it could
but maybe I don't know what I'm talking about! The *printer* can
certainly do double sided automatically.

I guess there would be a problem in a situation like mine where there
are both Windows and Linux boxes on the network - where would the FAX
go?

Yes, I think it's the way I've been using it. There is certainly a
fair amount of storage on the printer. When you look at the sent FAX
history (from Windows) it takes a fair old time, presumably
downloading the information. This history can be viewed from any
Windows box on the network so it *must* be in the printer.

Dead easy really once I'd found the commands to start the printer
housekeeping GUI. I run CUPS by the way and, once I'd installed the
latest HLPIP drivers the CUPS printer management stuff was all I
needed to get the printer up and running. I did ask a few questions
(and got answers) in the HP Linux printer support forums.
