No, no, no! Please leave your windows mindset in the box when you start dealing with linux. Qtparted uses the ntfsresize tool to resize NTFS partitions and to quote (including bold) the man page, '*Defragmentation is NOT required prior resizing*' (sic):

The same is true for FAT partitions. Linux utilities are clever enough to realise that there might be data that you want to keep in the partition you're resizing and simply move it to suit.
