Jobcentre and linux

I just received this email from Jobcentreplus after complaining that their
website doesn't work with FireFox (1.0.7) on Linux (Ubuntu 5.04).

Phil

Thank you for your email and apologies for the difficulties your are
experiencing.

The 'browser/platform' requirements for the Jobcentre Plus website are
detailed at:

http://www.jobcentreplus.gov.uk/cms.asp?Page=/Home/AboutUs/ContactUs

The job search facility is compatible with Internet Explorer version 5.0
and above, running on a Windows platform only.

Although this caters for the majority of our user population, an exercise
is currently underway to provide access for users of other, less commonly
used browsers/platforms.

Due to the supporting activities and rigorous testing that is required for
an update to our website, it is more cost effective to make a number of
changes at the same time. The piece of work required to address your
problem is currently scheduled for implementation late November this year.

Alternatively you can also search the Jobcentre Plus jobs database by
visiting www.worktrain.gov.uk which is compatible with:

Platform
WinXP
Win2000
Win98
WinNT
Mac

Browsers
IE5.5 and above
Netscape 7 and above
Mozilla
Opera

Worktrain also holds information on training courses, childcare provider
details, voluntary sector opportunities, career profiles and links to
hundreds of useful websites on a wide range of subjects.

Regards

I am having trouble accessing the site (the search for jobs list boxes
show no data) using Firefox web browser on Ubntu Linux.

Obviously, unemployed people are quite likely to use Linux as it saves
about £100, being the cost of Windows. FullName: Phil Stovell
