My XP update tool thingy has just flagged up that SP3 is now ready and waiting for me to download and install.
Mindful of someone's timely warning on this group recently, I don't want to install it until it's been live for some time and 'proved' itself on a few million other PCs. Therefore I declined the download selected 'No don't ask me again about this update'.
However - doesn't this mean that I won't be able to download any future security updates etc, until I *do* install SP3?
It'll come out on a magazine cover disc eventually. That's what
I'm waiting for as the download is over (I think) half a terabyte.
Not fussed about the size (though a 0.5 Tb download might rule out installing it on the majority of domestic PCs I think!) - I don't care where it comes from, I don't want to risk ballsing up my PC until Micro$oft have sorted it out - I'll leave it to the early adopters to have the pleasure of assisting them.
As anyone done it?
My Pc been trying for 2 or 3 months now.
I have XP SP3 as the .exe which I have used.
Yesterday I was cleaning up an older PC (SP2) and ran M/S updates. It asked if I wanted SP3, so I let it get on with it. Took a while but was fine afterwards.
