DVDShrink problem (nothing to do with MI5)

I've been using DVDShrink for a long time now and it's just developed a
problem...
After the initial scan of a DVD, and me choosing Backup, the reading and
saving of the DVD can take up to 6000 hours according to the window which
shows the DVD being backed up. During this the pc slows to a crawl and it
takes about 3 minutes of waiting to cancel the operation before the pc is
useable again.
If I restart the pc and then restart DVDShrink to copy the same DVD it
recognises the DVD because it's seen it before. When I choose to back up it
asks if I want to clear the previous files it managed to save then it
whizzes through the DVD as normal, taking around 20 minutes depending on how
it's coded.
Why's it started doing this?
Si
