Hi,
I have an old Toshiba Satellite Pro 4200 laptop. Recently I upgraded from Windows 98 to ME.
Since doing so, it runs happily on the mains, but won't run off the battery. When I unplug the AC adapter, it dies, rather than running off the battery.
The battery was old and not brilliant, so I invested in a new battery, but it's still not running off it, so there is obviously some setting that I need to set.
The battery is charging OK.
Anyone able to offer any suggestions?
Michael
Common problem is that the electronic interface to the battery fails, meaning batteries aren't allowed to charge, and laptops sometimes won't run on either battery or power. A good laptop repairer should be able to fix this.
