| Bingo! I held a torch to the affected screens and could see the image
| so the problem is with the backlights. Time to invest in some surge-
| protected power strips (and replacement backlights).

Yes...and from what I have heard new backlights are bloody expesive
too........
( Can anyone enlighten me further ? )
