get the specs of the proposed replacement motherboard first and then
research it on the net
£240 for a new motherboard sounds a bit pricey
It is at present K8 Triton GA-K8 VM800M for AMD Athlon 64 processor.
The price is materials and labour.

Oof. Have you considered doing it yourself?
http://www.pcupgrade.co.uk/productdetails.asp?ProductID=1748&categoryid=270
(no affiliation etc) apparently have it in stock at forty odd quid,
and if you retain the same motherboard there should be no need to do
any reinstall. Even if your case is a bit tricky to get in it
shouldn't take more than an hour to swap it. Pretty easy and as it's
a like for like shouldn't really be too confusing.
If all they're doing is supplying/installing then £240 is, well,
pretty scandalous: I'd charge around £100 all in for this, as an
example, and I'm not cheap usually...
Thanks.
Had a word with them, they are going to look into the price, apparently it
is the socket 754 which makes it a bit different to the normal, and limits
availability. Only used I'm told for a short period of time. The fact I've
had 2 motherboards in is a surprise to them it is very unusual they say.
