Re: Wireless network can't authenticate

Given the large number of wireless networks around here (about 8 - 10

secure as possible. Got to say I don't think I'll be bothering with
the new FON service.

I bumped into this FON thing on a PC I was looking at a couple of days
ago. The PC concerned is connected by Wi-Fi to the router attached to
another PC connected directly via Ethernet. I set up the whole thing but
don't ever remember enabling FON, I suspect it got there via recent
update from the provider 'Neuf Telecom'.
Despite accessing the router and seemingly turning it off, the
provider's page always popped up first demanding a log-in and password
before it would allow any further progress. Despite much fiddling in the
PC's software entrails to try and get rid of it I couldn't. It was only
when I changed the channel from 'auto' (1) to one of my choice (7) did
the damn thing go away.

Forewarned is forearmed they say. Certainly if anyone asks me advice
about enabling FON I don't think I'll be recommending it.
