Buy a new one and it will come with Vista, DVD, wireless and a modem.
Actually, apart from Vista itself I'd go for one that does have those
because software is starting to be available only on DVD, and wireless
means
you don't have to search for a network port if you're working away from
home. One place that might be worth a look is
http://www.morgancomputers.co.uk/ who specialise in end of line and
overstock stuff. It's also worth checking where you're studying as they
might have things available as well.
mh.
Thanks for the info.
The reason that I don't want wireless is that my home router is a
wired one, which I prefer to keep.
Do wireless NICs also have a wired port?
No. A wireless NIC is a wireless NIC. A wired NIC is a wired NIC. They
are seperate cards and you can have one without the other.

But any modern laptop will have both, there built in to nearly all mother
boards these days
items.
