Standard practice to get all three cores on the wrong prongs;
fit the wrong fuses; leave earths disconnected; connect appliances
between line and earth ... I've seen the lot ...
I worked as an electrical technician for over 40 years, although not
specifically in the domestic area. It was certainly not "standard practice"
for me!
I could count on the fingers of one hand the amount of times I have seen
such dangerous mis-connections.
Appliances intended for domestic use must have a BS1363 plug pre-fitted.
This has been the case since 1994, and has virtually eliminated such
incorrect wiring.
