: Hello all
: It is fast approaching the time when I will have to do a fresh
: reinstall of XP Pro.
: I found somewhere in my magazines that there are two files
: that can be copied and added to the fresh install so that the
: activation can be carried through for XP without contacting
: Microsoft again.
: Does anyone know if the same applies to Office Pro 2003 ?
: This would save all of the rigmarole of phoning Microsoft to
: re-activate.
: TIA

XP pro does not need activating. Only Xp home does. The file you are
talking
about (for the benefit of others) are wpa.*, these need copying if you are
going to re install xp home , thats all.
Rubbish. XP Pro retail versions needs activating in the same was as XP
home. Only large corporate editions don't. The WPA files will only work if
the hardware has not altered outside of the limits set for reacticvation.
