I am about to up-grade my computer case and mobo. Now I have not looked at this yet, but I would imagine that I can connect my old drive to the new mobo, start up in safe mode and then load all the new mobo drivers. Thus keeping al the drives apps and data intact.

Is there a snag I have not seen?

Is this new drive going to replace the old drive as the master on C: ? If so, wouldn't you first connect the new drive as a slave on D: then clone the old drive onto the new drive? If your OS is WinXP then installing a new hard drive as master and a new motherboard will probably need reactivation of WinXP.

No, there is no new drive. It is my old one from the machine I am using now. I want to put this drive in the new case with new mobo and get it up and running again without losing any data/progs.
