I have a tiscali broadband connection.
Bad luck!
Bought an Addon 4 port USB
modem router from Maplins. The software tells me it is a
globespanvirata 4 port router. I connected it using the USB and got it
working. Can connect other PCs via the RJ45 ports. Trouble is the
connection keeps hanging.
Can you borrow a decent quality router from a friend and try that? I suspect that the
problem is down to your router, so if you can try another then that may resolve the
issue.
I don't mean to be rude about your purchase, but a decent quality router/modem is
essential for a trouble free setup. Much will be down to the firmware, but the
quality of the product also is important.
Bearing in mind you can buy a decent quality router such as a Netgear for around the
£50 - £70 mark (Belkin, Linksys also spring to mind) and for a bit more a ZyXel or a
Draytek Vigor, and get a reliable solid connection - with wireless too, is it worth
messing around with a cheap "unknown" and all the inherent problems associated with
it?
