I have a tiscali broadband connection. Bought an Addon 4 port USB
modem router from Maplins. The software tells me it is a
globespanvirata 4 port router. I connected it using the USB and got it
working. Can connect other PCs via the RJ45 ports. Trouble is the
connection keeps hanging. Tried to download a big .ISO image file and
got locked out about halfway. Same with newsgroups and email and
browsing. System locks up and I have to cancel the action then retry.
I don't get this using the speedtouch USB modem that came with the
account. Unfortunately the speedtouch doesn't have any RJ45 ports on
it
Anyone any ideas on configuring this Addon modem router? I have
searched for updated driver for it but cannot find any.
You could try connecting it to the 'host' computer via one of the
ethernet ports instead of the USB.
That seemed to work when I tried it last night but it loses a port :(
What speed is your ADSL supposed to be? If you're 8MB/s then it may
be that the modem is not trained for the speeds involved. I had this
problem for days when I upgraded.
1MB.
Looks like I'll have to use the speedtouch for internet and the Addon
for connecting other PCs
Thanks anyway
