Hi

I have Norton Internet Security 2002 and this years subscription is due
to finish. I went to renew however Symantic no longer provide updates
for the 2002 version, I have to updrade to the Norton Internet Security
2006 version.

My problem is they want £39.99 to download the upgrade over the net
but I know I can buy the full version in the shops much cheaper.

My question is, is it safe to uninstall and remove NIS 2002 and then
buy the full NIS 2006 version from a shop and install that instead? I
have heard people say they have had big problems trying to remove
Norton from their PC, so I unsure whether to risk it. My only other
option is to pay the £40 to upgrade but this seems expensive to me, as
well as taking an age to download cos I'm on dial-up, plus I won't have
any of the original disks if I do it this way.

Any help, advice or other suggestions most welcome.

Thank you.

Each to his own but I don't understand why anyone is buying anti-virus or
firewall software when the free stuff is so good and performs better than
Norton/Symantec in independent tests.

Whatever you decide to uninstall/install it is worth creating restore points
first so that you can roll back if necessary.
