I want to put a TFT in my daughters bedroom, on the wall, which is connected
to a PC running Windows Media Center, so I can play her videos on demand -
but by preference although I want the screen in her room, I would rather
have the PC itself in another room - not least so I can switch it on and off
and control it remotely, and also to stop her fiddling with it and/or using
it when she shouldn't be.

Are there any wireless options that would allow me to have a screen placed
remotely from the PC that it is "attached" to? Or should I be thinking about
running an extra long VGA cable to it (and just how long can such a cable
be, anyway?).

Dabs has a 30m VGA cable for £57:

You can also get KVM extenders (to allow you to use the mouse and keyboard
as well) and reverse KVM switches (to allow 2 separate screens, mice and
keyboards to use a single machine) but this is where it starts to get even
more expensive.
