My wife has just bought herself a new computer and flat screen. My
original plan was for me to up-grade her computer, using the
original hard drive. Now to my question...
What is the lazy man's way of transferring the files she needs,
across to the new computer?
USB hard disk .
Many thanks for that :-)
I have the adapter, but did not think of using it. It saves me from
a fry up if I hang a hard drive onto the new system.
Why should you have a fry up? I've done this sort of things dozens of
times to transfer files, I don't even bother screwing them in, just
set to Slave if on the same flat cable as themain drive or a CD/DVD
player, plug this and the power cable in and off you go.
It's probably just my bum twitching, as I have commissioned a very
great number of machines in the past. I always heave a sigh of relief
when the machine burst into life, instead of flames :-)
"Oh ye of little faith" ;-)
It has been my life's memories of being told, when something goes
wrong, that 'that shouldn't happen'.
I would hate to have to tell my wife that the money she has spent on
it was wasted :-(
No there really is no problem. Just plug the old hard disk into the new
PC on an available cable connector, setting it to Master or Slave as
necessary and copy the stuff off
.
