On the cover disk of PC Advisor is a beta copy of Office 2007. My
computer will not auto start the DVD (at this point, I might as well ask
why doesn't it auto start?). I have 2 DVD drives, one single layer, the
other dual layer.
Is there any way that it is detecting something wrong with my system, or
has anyone else had a problem with this software?
Silly question time - cant you just browse the dvd and double click on
the exe file to install it .
Yes :-)
I have done that and then spotted my deliberate mistake. I don't have
service pack 2 on my computer :-(
Don't you feel very stupid when this sort of thing happens?
Either way , I think there is a tick box somewhere you can tick or untick
to set or disable the autostart feature .
Relevant box is ticked, so I am at a loss as to why, now I have 2 DVD
re-writers installed, that I don't get auto start, as I did when I had a
CD re-writer and a DVD re-writer.
Not that it bothers me all that much. I find that an auto start can be a
bit OTT at times, when I just want some data off a manufactured disk.

You will see that you can set how it behaves dependent on content such as
auto play a DVD movie but open (or not ) a DVD data disc in explorer, and so
on
.
