processor. All fans are working. Power on all cables. Eventually I
turned it off and plugged in the laptop using the optical mouse from
the dead machine. Mouse was dead too. Went back and booted dead
machine with no mouse or other usb attached which booted no problems.
Anyone come across this before as it's a new one on me?
Board is a Asrock k7s41gx with an 11Mhz proc.
I'm actually posting this from my laptop and I hate this keyboard and
touch pad
My wife had a similar problem with an Acer lap top. She called me to it cos it would not boot. The first thing I did was to remove the three USB devices from it and try a re boot. It booted fine in safe mode and again in normal mode.
Next step was to see if one of the devices was not working. All proved to be OK, until I started to swap devices between ports. It turned out that all ports worked on a device, but not all devices would work in every port. The devices were cross checked in my computer and they all worked in any port.
As it was under guarantee, it went back to the shop where it had come from (a small independent). The expert at the shop listed to me and tried a memory stick in the ports and they all worked. It went back to Acer and they said that there was a problem with the USB ports and changed the card for a new one.
By the way, it's a new one on me as well.
