.my pc stopped responding so I rebooted. Got as far as detecting the
drives then froze. Rebooted but then it only got as far as showing the
processor. All fans are working. Power on all cables. Eventually I
turned it off and plugged in the laptop using the optical mouse from
the dead machine. Mouse was dead too. Went back and booted dead
machine with no mouse or other usb attached which booted no problems.
Anyone come across this before as it's a new one on me?
Board is a Asrock k7s41gx with an 11Mhz proc.
Keyboard Error is usually a dead-stopper ("Press F1 to continue" as the
legend says). Is you K/B USB too?
No.
It never got that far in the boot process. Just a bios message and the
processor type
The management of this is in the Bios
and it may have lost the settings, because weak battery etc. I can't see
how the mouse would affect things even if 'broke' as the PC will work
perfectly well without it, but not without a keyboard. Otherwise maybe
it is a direct USB problem.
I'm back on line with a different mouse. The other one is completely
dead. Everything seems to be working as normal.
Only problem I have is that my spare is a Belkin wireless keyboard and
mouse. The keyboard is ok but the mouse is crap. Eats batteries too.
