Board is a Asrock k7s41gx with an 11Mhz proc.

Keyboard Error is usually a dead-stopper ("Press F1 to continue" as the
legend says). Is you K/B USB too? The management of this is in the Bios
and it may have lost the settings, because weak battery etc. I can't see
how the mouse would affect things even if 'broke' as the PC will work
perfectly well without it, but not without a keyboard. Otherwise maybe
it is a direct USB problem.
