Ignore the anti OE brigade - I've tried many programs from ELM onwards and
find OE OK!
For your question there is a number of programs e.g. ABCSpell for Outlook
express that did work with version 5 but I've not tried with version 6. Or
try

which claims to work with version 6.
I install an old version of MS works (from about 1994 version 4) and that
gives me a spell checker. Not too difficult to get copies off the web.
