For no apparent reason the screen suddenly went blue and said that it was
dumping its physical memory or something similar.
Now when I try to start, it runs through the post then reboots itself and
keeps repeating the cycle. I can get the machine to display the Safe Mode
menu, but no matter what option we take it just scrolls through a load of
text then you get a brief glimpse of the XP logo after which it reboots
itself again.
The mobo, 550 power supply and drives were all new last year, Its got an ECS
755-A2 mobo, AMD Sempron 2800+ 1 Gig of DDR SDRAM, and a Promise IDE Card.
On IDE 1 there are 2 hard drives, on IDE 2 there is an internal 250 Zipdrive
and CD-ROM, on the Promise card there is another hard drive and a DVD
writer. We have tried removing all the extra drives except for the master
on IDE 1 together with the Promise card, but its still the same.
Can you boot from a boot CD?
