IP to network range

Daft question, to do with spam rejection: given the IP address of a spammer, I'm looking for a way of automatically firewalling out his ISP's entire network address range.
Obviously I can do a manual 'whois' on the lone address and extract the
appropriate IP address range by hand; but I want to automate this. Unfortunately the 'whois' information is often freeform and not readily parseable. Any ideas please?
