You don't need the floppies. Start via the CD (this might need a change in the Bios) and you'll be given the opportunity to format. Then do a clean install, always better in my experience.
I've had a look in the BIOS; it has this; 1st boot device Floppy 2nd boot device IDE-0 3rd boot device CDROM
I take it that I should change it to Floppy, CDROM, IDE-0. Is that the normal boot check sequence?
