Yes I don't doubt your word on that, there were some pretty silly
systems. I've still got ads in old magazines for providers that gave you
acces for 'only' 10 ukp an hour, but this was in the IT/internet stone
age. As Wanadoo set up in the UK long after their native France (it used
to belong to France Telecom but is now 'independent') I doubt if they
would have reintroduced this outdated system.
