Look up the frequencies used by key-fobs and a list of amateur bands around the same frequencies. It's great fun to sit in a car park and hold a conversation while watching the punters trying to lock/ unlock their cars! The authorities can do nothing as the band is allocated to key-fobs only on a secondary basis - i.e. they have to tolerate interference from the primary user.
Is the Amateur Radio Service now a primary user of 433MHz then ?. Always used to be a secondary user !!
No, the military are the primary users. What Jim was trying to say, is that the key fob users also use this band as secondary users. What this means, is that they can not complain about any other user of the band interfering with the locking/un-locking of their cars.
Another Dave :-) .
