What's the best advice for prolonging the usable life of a LiIon laptop
battery, given that I will be using the laptop almost exclusively on mains
but occasionally on batteries when moving between one mains point and
other, or when walking around a house "water divining" for the strength of a
wireless signal.
Should I deliberately run the laptop off batteries from time to time to let
them discharge? Is it possible to unplug the battery while the PC is turned
on, or must I reboot before plugging/unplugging? Should I unplug the battery
when I'm running off mains.
Given that it will cost about £80, I'm anxious that my next battery will
last as long as possible before becoming the electrical equivalent of a
bucket with a big hole in it!
