I meant: reinstalling should not be a problem if you're not dual-booting.
Sounds as if you need to reformat the disk and reinstall. Groove's
instructions on how to change the keyboard settings are correct.

You can use Character Map to copy and paste special characters into your
documents, such as the trademark symbol, special mathematical characters, or
a character from the character set of another language.
a.. To open Character Map, click Start, point to All Programs, point to
Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click Character Map.
b.. For information about using Character Map, click Help in Character
Map.
Hope that helps!
By the way, I don't understand why it's harder to type a K than a C - but
it's good to hear I'm not the only ex-Unix command-line junkie out there...
I believe changing the drive letter of the system volume is impossible, and
even if you could, you'd break every link in the registry. (Maybe I just
decided it was effectively impossible for that reason - I don't remember.
When this came up for me, I reinstalled after looking into it.)
If C: isn't allocated, you might get away with using SUBST, eg:
SUBST C:\ K:\
I wonder if your environment variable problem is somehow related to the
keyboard problem? Try creating a dummy variable which contains various
combinations of those characters, and see if you can spot a pattern.
