Michael,

Go to www.bootdisk.com and download a bootable floppy from there for WIn 98
onto your desktop and then stick a nice clean (preferably new) floppy in the
drive and double click on the downloaded file icon and follow the
instructions.

This will give you a boot disk with a number of generic CD-ROM drivers on it
(along with all the other files needed).

By the Way, the boot floppy that came with your CD-ROM, is for installing
the OS on a brand new drive - I could never get mine to work when doing a
reformat.
