I wrote recently about my broad band connection being used to up load very large files.
I have been reading an article in Micro Mart about privacy (29th of September to 5th of October page 89.
TBH I do find the technical stuff in Micro Mart does tend to be a little different from reality, so it might not be *completely* accurate.
Though it tells me how to find out what my MAC address is and then goes on to say that I can restrict broad band access to specific addresses, it does not tell me how to do this.
Can any one point me in the right direction, please?
What router are you using? The easy way is to have it running as a DHCP server and only allocating routable IP addresses to MAC addresses you want to be allowed online. Depending on the router you can also setup access control lists to block certain MAC addresses.
Sorry about this, but your answer has arrived before my question was downloaded :-(
I did try to tag on that it is a BT 205 router, but I could not do that until my original post turned up.
