I can buy an AMD A6-3650 Quad Core CPU for £ 66.66 ex VAT and an FM1
motherboard for £ 45.64 ex VAT meaning £ 112.30 ex VAT for both. The
Sandybridge Intel i3-2100 3.10 ghz costs £ 79.16 ex VAT and the H61M-VS
1155 motherboard costs £ 35.55 ex VAT meaning £ 114.71 ex VAT for both so
not much difference but the Integrated graphics of the llano may be better
then Intel and so maybe could have saved £ 40 by not getting a dedicated
graphics card. In anycase the system I am building will perform better then
the integrated graphics of the llano.

to top it all off this review

says that the duel core i3-2xxx series perform faster the the llano quad
core cpus despite them having 4 cores and the only real advantage of the new
AMD platform is the integrated graphics which while still low end are
certainly better then current Intel IGP.

And you asked for a budget gaming PC, which is why I mentioned the AMD
llano. If you want to spend more and use a separate GPU then Intel
does offer better performance on CPU bound tasks. I do wonder how
many modern CPUs ever get used at 100%, expect when running
benchmarks.
