proceded to boot, it seems that it was still booting off the onboard

to have had no effect on the POST routine.

I guess it needs the 6pin power for it to take over from the onboard
graphics but maybe both graphics cards could work at the same time is
this possible? or would putting a fully powered pci-e gfx card in
disable the onboard graphics or does it depend on motherboard.

Slightly worried that I may have done some damage to the card because
I forgot to completely power down the machine before installing it ie
it was in standby ;(

I think it also needs Enabiling and set as default in Bios
.
