card.
There is also an IDE drive and another SATA drive (boot) , along with a
SATA
DVD-RW attached to the motherboard.
The error message is
***
Primary drive 1 not found
Sil 3512A SATARaid BIOS Version 4.3.79
Copyright (C) 1997-2006 Silicon Image, Inc
Press <Ctrl+S> or F4 to enter RAID utility
0 SAMSUNG HD501LJ
1 SAMSUNG HD401LJ
Strike the F1 key to continue, F2 to run the setup utility
***
When I press F1, the computer boots as expected and both drives are found.
If there is a drive connected to the 0 channel then this message appears
with the F1 prompt, if not, then the message appears as above, but with
"not
detected" after the 0 channel and the computer boots without the prompt.
Any
ideas? Google isn't giving me much.
What happens if you press F4?
Is there an incomplete (non-functional) RAID set there that is
generating the message?
There appears to be no option in the BIOS for booting from the SATA card
that I can see. The RAID card is only used to provide additional SATA ports,
not RAID functionality. F4 takes me into the setup menu, but there is no
helpful option in there.
that you made it clear they are not in a RAID set).
I have an SIL RAID card that sometimes, only after a frozen system
Reset, forgets things (there is no harm done), but I can't guess what's
up with yours.
