I have a 19" LG 1915S monitor with a problem. When switching on, it
flashes once then goes to a black screen. If I switch the monitor on
with Windows already loaded, I see a brief flash of the Windows screen
before it goes black again.
I've read that the problem is either the backlight or the inverter and
that backlights are considerably more difficult to replace. First thing
is to determine which component is buggered.
I have little electronics knowledge but can solder ok. Is the monitor
worth trying to fix?
Does the status LED stay on when it goes black?..
If the LED itself cuts off completly then I would say the power board
oldbe bad.
Some LG's come with service manuals so it might be worth going over your
paperwork.
I have a samsung TV that's not even 3 years old, and the power board has
leaky caps on it!.. So quality names dont mean basic problems still dnot
happen.
Caps, yes I read that the problem could also be poor capacitors! I'm all
for an easy life; looks like I should just bin it :(
The status light stays ON when the screen goes black.
Since it keeps running, then I would go with what you were told, then yea, I
rekon inverter..
Shine a light on the screen and SEE if you can find the image there :P...
Some inverter boards are hard to change I think.. Basically the inverter
board provides power for the lights, so when it's gone no light.
