The vendor of my dodgy disk claims to have "fixed it" using "software"
but couldn't remember which manufacturer's diagnostics he'd run in the
last 24 hours. So, I have it back. I'll run the Hitachi Drive Fitness
Test on it and see what comes up. Doubt I'll be buying any more disks
from that shop...

To my surprise, the Hitachi "Drive Fitness Test" gave the disk a clean
bill of health, even when I asked it to zero every byte and then read
them back.
Hmm. Has it zeroed the "reallocated sector count" stat in SMART, too?
I was very pissed off with Hitachi DFT - that disk of mine that the
NAS reported as 131'C after reallocating some sectors? DFT says it's
been dropped. Not by me, it hasn't... I'll RMA it anyway.
