I'm not entirely sure if this is a HW or a SW issue, or a bit of both,
but hope I'm not too far OT for this group. I've posted in the XP
forum too, but maybe someone here has had similar problems.
For years, every few months or so my DVD drive suddenly loses its
Autoplay facility. IOW, despite apparently being set correctly to play
a DVD when it is inserted, it sits doing nothing.
This usually means I have to turn up my old notes, re-learn the
issues, try various registry changes, etc. Basically, a PITA.
Anyone know of a utility I can use that will automatically search out
the problem and fix it please? Or at least prompt me through various
options?
Sorted thanks. This recommendation from reply in XP newsgroup fixed it
immediately. Duly filed for future use.
Autoplay Repair Wizard

The Microsoft AutoPlay Repair Wizard scans your computer devices to
find defective AutoPlay settings, and attempts to fix those it finds.
Supported Operating Systems: Windows Server 2003, Windows XP
Isn't it nice that they produce a hard-to-find fix tool, rather than
solving the problem at the origin?
