Always somewhat subjective based upon preference and experience but - anyone care to offer any advice?
Thanks

And now that I secured a copy of Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 (via Barclay's), I install it and find my connection to the Internet is gone - zilch.

After many house of running between my laptop and my main PC with Kaspersky screwing it, I find that Kaspersky will not co-exists with Net Nanny (strangely not apparent of their web-site)

I rate the latest NetNanny very highly - it provides superb controllable protection for youngsters (far superior to Kaspersky's parental control) and so it is now un-deleted and binned.
Thus far Avira (simple and apparently effective) is now protecting my system.

Call me a Cynic, if you must, but I think you can take it as a rule of
thumb that once an AV product reaches the stage whereby it can be bought
as a boxed item in the likes of PC World, then it's time to look
elsewhere for a better alternative.

Referring to Net Nanny or Kasperspy?
Really, I tried countless parental control offers and the new NetNanny (since they were bought/bought out Content Watch) is nothing less than excellent. Minimal number of false blocks, and zero nasties have got through - and minimal slow-down.
