Funny you should mention that i'm looking at the MX1000 and MX1100 (1000
seems hard to find right now) reviews seem fairly good so far as well for
both of them, the 1000 does do everything i need but it is looking like the
1100 is front runner.

Takes AA batteries rather than LiIon+charger dock that the MX1000 has;
that's a positive or a negative depending on how you like these
things. The buttons look nicer on the 1100 - the triple thumbutton on
the 1000 was a bit crap.
