Can I plug both cables into two different home plugs and then use 2
others to pick them up on the other side of the house? Or will that
not be possible because only one type of device can be pluged into a
home plug network at a time?

In network terms, HomePlugs are a bridge. This means you can view any
HomePlug units you have as a single switch with as many ports as you
have units. So, the configuration you describe is equivalent to
connecting a pair of switches together with two cables, which doesn't
make sense (link aggregation aside).

You basically have two options: plug one HomePlug into the
modem(/router, presumably) and then either (1) have two more, with one
connected to the TV and one to the computer, or (2) one more connected
to a switch, with the switch connected to the TV and computer.

Perhaps I wasn't clear in my first post.

The modem which my ISP suupplied me with has TWO ethernet exits. One
of these is meant to be connected to the TV decoder and the other to
my computer, so that I can get an internet connection.
The problem is that my modem is on the other side of the house from
what it needs to be plugged into (my computer and my tv decoder).

So what I'm wondering is, will plugging in two home plugs from the
modem work, one from the tv port and one from the internet port? Or
would the signals get confused?

Thanks
