Wam wrote:have you tried using on-board video to see if it's your pcie slot?Hi,
I tried to turn my PC on this morning and pressing the power button did nothing - no power lights, no fans spinning, just dead. Tried turning the monitor on, it turned on fine. Removed PC kettle lead from adaptor and turned off/on at the wall. PC then booted up, power and fan lights on, hard disks spinning, graphics card & cpu fans spinning but with no monitor output, no BIOS post screens and no beeps. I have:
1. Tried alternate monitor - same result
2. Reseated RAM & booting with 1/2 sticks
3. Reseated PCI-E Video Card
4. Checked Motherboard Connections
5. Disconnected hard drives, CD Roms, floppy and any other PCI Devices
6. Removed CMOS battery & replaced
All with no joy
I don't have a spare graphics card or PSU but looks like I will need to go out and purchase. If neither of these are at fault then I presume a motherboard issue. Anyone any other suggestions before I do this or hazard a guess at what it's likely to be?
Thanks in advance
Update - Bought new PSU, installed, no difference.
Tried graphics card in different PC works fine and a different graphics card makes no difference.
I think this suggests Motherboard is at fault, I've moved the reset jumper and back and have removed the CMOS battery and replaced with no joy - Any advice on what to try next?
Thanks again
