I've tried other monitors and cables.
Were they all CRTs? DVI or VGA?
CRTs are quite vulnerable to low-frequency EMF interference. Anything from nearby fluorescents to overhead power lines. Analogue signals are also vulnerable to interference.
It's not the CPU.
