Hi guys,
Have landed an HP D7100 desktop with XP pro COA sticker, but no OS....
Options?
TIA Tim..
My understanding is that this is quite likely to be an OEM license, and
you'll need the corresponding CD from HP to reinstall it. Some of these
are activated by detecting a code in the BIOS, rather than via the retail
activation process. HP help is very good in my experience, so drop them
an email.

activation digits.
I think HP are the same as Dell - if you use their own original discs, it
is locked to BIOS (and doesn't ask for COA number as it uses their generic
one).
Thanks so far guys- I am going to contact HP on monday and see if they will
supply a replacement HP WinXP pro disc (its worth a go!) and go from
there...
Tim..
