Checking my old PC (which has a separate Soundblaster/Creative soundBecause you're using cheap onboard sound with very little noise
card), on which there's full silence in no-signal conditions, I found
that enabling or disabling the equivalent (called ('PC Speaker') made
no difference.
So I'm puzzled why this should arise on this new PC, and wonder if
anyone has any likely explanation please?
reduction circuitry in it, if any at all. It picks up signal noise from
the rest of the motherboard.
Just look in the difference in the number of capacitors on the
Soundblaster compared with the area around the audio IC on the
motherboard.
Thanks. But why would muting the 'PC Beep'='PC Speaker' option remove
the noise?
BTW, is it normal for on-board soundcards to provide no facility for
altering treble/bass?
